On 08/03/2021, the CME department of Kirkuk Medical College arranged a seminar about the latest updates of Covid-19 infection done by Dr. Mohammed Fatih hassib (Hematologist and a lecturer at the Pathology and Forensic medicine branch of the college). The seminar focused on the latest studies about the development of the immunological responses against the virus in the infected patient’s bodies, plus the most recent produced vaccines in the world to prevent the infection, as well as covering the most important developments and updates in regards to the methods of diagnosis of the virus and the procedures of each one of the them, and highlights the newest mutation of the virus that spread in UK. The main goals of the seminar were to discuss and understand the mechanism of the immune response in human body to the virus, the reasons of the variety of the immune response to the virus in different age groups where it causes death in some individuals comparing to no symptoms of other patients and discussion about the available vaccines and how they work. The seminar finalized with recommendation to take the vaccine whenever it is available to reach to the herd immunity in the community to control the infection.
