At a time, where all the departments of the ministry of higher education and research including our university in Kirkuk honourably compete and aspire to improve on its knowledge and performance for the service of our nation and in order to succeed and innovate to gain a good academic accreditation; our college of medicine in the university of Kirkuk, has been the frontier in taking the lead in providing a good medical education in Iraq since the colleges was set up.

Kirkuk Medical School, has always been providing high standard knowledge and skills in Medicine and in the field of scientific research in the service of our community.

The basic mission, the college has is to provide an excellent medical and academic knowledge to our students to enable them to engage in the best quality in teaching and training.  The college encourages the medical students to be involved in medical research and prepares the students to practice evidence based medicine.  Our graduates will be getting bachelor degree in medicine and surgery, they are knowledgeable, and are getting high ethical standard teaching and learn skills they need to serve our nation and improve the standards. They will eventually take on leadership roles.

The knowledge provided to the medical students in the college will guide them in managing different types and scales of common health issues and health problems in the society, they are taught how to find ways out of these challenges.

I have no doubt that the students will be capable of identifying and planning the treatment of common diseases and know how to prevent the spread of communicable disease and of any other health crises.

The students will also be told in the years of studying in the college, the evidence based medicine and encouraged to join postgraduate studies and courses to specialize in various areas in Medicine to effectively contribute to improve the care. They will be taught in the postgraduate specialization by competent teachers who will provide good quality teaching and training, they aspire to get until graduation. We are optimistic that they will lead, and that contribute and  compete with the regional Arabic and international universities in the world.

The laboratory facilities and teaching halls in Kirkuk medical school are equipped with the required tools for learning.

Our teaching halls have up to date facilities for teaching and communication with students.

There is a library with the most recent books and periodicals on the shelves, there are also electronic books,  audiovisual and technical skill labs facilities in the college; the college aims at providing the scientific environmental for the students education.

In the field of scientific research, our teaching faculty contribute to the local Kirkuk medical journal and regional/international journals, their scientific applied researches are focusing on common local diseases investigations and managements. The objectives are to find solution in preventing and treating common health issues in our community. The faculty members are actively involved in continuous medical educations and appraisals, They are encouraged to joint local, national and international conferences, courses and workshops.

Finally I express my gratitude to the head of the university of Kirkuk and his colleagues in the university, our faculty in the medical school, our employees and the medical students; we are proud of them and grateful for their cooperation and understanding of our ambition of contentious improvement and hard working.
